Dr. Muhammad Uddin
MD, FAAP
Dr. Uddin has over 20 years of experience in pediatrics, starting his career after graduating from Bangladesh and completing his residency at Lincoln Medical Center in New York City. In 2007, he moved to Guymon, Oklahoma, where he had the unique opportunity to practice medicine in a rural setting with limited resources. This experience helped him gain valuable insight into the social and cultural aspects of medicine in rural America.
In 2010, Dr. Uddin and his family relocated to Amarillo, Texas, where he became involved in teaching at the Texas Tech Health Science Center. His dedication to education earned him the Best Faculty Award in 2013. After relocating to the Dallas area to raise his family, Dr. Uddin worked at Dallas Children’s Hospital for three years, further developing his skills in pediatric care.
In 2016, he took over Dr. Ali Sham’s practice in Plano, Texas, which was established in 1984, and renamed it Health and Healing Pediatrics. Since then, he has been dedicated to providing exceptional care to children and families in the Plano community, continuing to grow and thrive as a trusted pediatrician.
Dr. Rahima Afroza
MD, FAAP
Dr. Afroza moved to the United States from Bangladesh in 2006 and completed her pediatric residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, TX. She earned the Dean’s Award for ‘Outstanding Intern’ in 2010-2011, recognized as one of the best residents in her class.
During her residency, she was mentored by Dr. Ralph Habersang, whose philosophy on general pediatrics emphasized building a strong health foundation, prevention, nutrition, and using natural remedies. This approach became central to her practice, especially for families with children facing special needs.
Her journey into integrative medicine became even more personal when autism entered her family. Faced with traditional treatments that offered little hope, she sought alternative solutions. After working at an integrative pediatric practice in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, she discovered that autism could be linked to environmental factors like food allergies, infections, and toxic exposures.
A strong advocate for the Son-Rise Program, Dr. Afroza believes in a holistic approach that involves both biomedical methods and a parent-centered, love-driven intervention. She believes that autism can be curable with this comprehensive approach.
Her philosophy combines traditional pediatric care with integrative medicine to address the rising rates of conditions like obesity, ADHD, and autoimmune diseases. She is committed to thinking outside the box when symptoms don’t fit standard clinical protocols, ensuring the best care for her patients.
As a member of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS), Dr. Afroza is always up to date on the latest research and treatment protocols for children on the spectrum. Her holistic approach connects the body, mind, and spirit, focusing on finding the root causes of health issues.
In her own words: “Children are our future and are the building blocks of our nation.” She is deeply grateful to the families who trust her care and share her vision of integrative pediatric healthcare.
When not seeing patients, she enjoys cooking, traveling, practicing henna, and spending time with her four children and husband, also a pediatrician, in Frisco, TX.
